Our Jewellery ..... all the initial jewellery we use is;

Internally threaded

This type of jewellery is designed to pass through the piercing channel without causing trauma to either new or healed piercings.

Implant grade Titanium

This is lightweight, highly resistant to corrosion and extremely unlikely to react with body fluids and tissues. Titanium is not magnetic (also doesn’t set off airport security scanners) and is the least likely of all metals to cause an allergic reaction, making it perfect for piercings.

Our Piercer

At Black Cat Tattoo Collective we are just as serious about the art of Body Piercing as we are about Tattooing.  This is something that we always try and reflect in our work and the selection of Jewellery that we offer here at the studio.

Our Piercier, Stephen has been piercing professionally since 2017.  He makes every effort to ensure that you, the client, is comfortable and relaxed during your piercing experience.  Our studio has its own dedicated piercing room so that all piercings are performed in total privacy.

Common questions and answers

We have summarised some the the questions we are commonly asked during the piercing process;

How old do I have to be to get a piercing?

Are you under 12?

From the age of 7 to 12 we are only able to perform a basic lobe piercing.  We do not pierce children’s ears under the age of 7.

As you are under the age of 16, you will need parental consent for these.  Unfortunately, we are not able to accept consent from a brother, sister, grandparent or friend, it needs to be either your mother or father.

Aged 12-16?

We can perform all other piercings except for nipples and genitals.

Please note that some piercings, such as the belly buttons depend more on the development of the body and the area being pierced rather than strict age ranges.  The piercer has the right to decline the piercing if he feels that this is the case.

As you are under the age of 16, you will need parental consent for these.  Unfortunately, we are not able to accept consent from a brother, sister, grandparent or friend, it needs to be either your mother or father.

Aged 16-18?

You can legally consent to a piercing providing you have valid photographic ID with you.  We can perform all other piercings except for nipples and genitals, without the need for parental consent.

Aged 18 or over?

There are no piercing restrictions.  Please remember that we may still need to see a valid photographic ID.

PLEASE REMEMBER – NO VALID ID, NO PIERCING

What do I need to do before getting pierced?

1. Bring valid photo identification with you just in case.  You may think you look old enough but it’s difficult to tell nowadays!

2. Be completely sober, not under the influence of either alcohol or drugs

3. Have eaten with 4 hours prior to the procedure

4. If possible, avoid taking any painkillers or other blood thinning medication

5. If we are piercing ears, please have your hair tied back or to the side, away from the piercing site.

6. Not be pregnant or have given birth within the last 3 months

Do I need to make an appointment?

We mainly run a walk-in service for piercings where no appointment is necessary.  However, we do provide a prepaid appointment service if you have a busy schedule.  Pre-paid bookings take priority over walk-ins, please contact the studio if you would like to arrange one.

Does it hurt?

With any process that breaks the skin, you will feel some sensation, some people cope with it better than others.  Your body will cope better if you are relaxed.  Make sure you have eaten before you come in, you need energy to cope with the adrenaline that your body will produce.

What type of jewellery do you use?

All the jewellery that we use is internally threaded, implant grade titanium.

I can’t change my existing jewellery, can you help?

Of course, we can!  If you purchase a piece of jewellery from us then we will change it free of charge for you.  If you bought it elsewhere then there will be a small charge to cover the cost of gloves and cleaning etc.

Do you give out aftercare?

We will go through how to look after your new piercing with you.  Don’t worry, both you and your piercing will have all the support that you need.

I am pregnant, can I get a piercing?

During the course of your pregnancy and 3 months after giving birth we are unable to pierce you. It is best to let your body concentrate on the complex process it is already dealing with and give your body sufficient healing time after.
